Commissioner Lundell highlighted some <br /> of the activities and business conducted over the last year by the commission, in- <br /> cluding citizen awards and officer merit awards for their team work. Commis- <br /> sioner Lundell referenced her personal experience with a ride-along with a twen- <br /> ty-two year veteran officer and the learning experience it had been for her. <br /> Mayor Roe thanked Chair VanderVegt and Commissioner Lundell for their report <br /> and attendance at tonight's meeting; noting their limited scope of duties as pro- <br /> scribed by statutory requirements. <br /> b. Receive Preview of the new Roseville Economic Development Content Man- <br /> agement System& Economic Development Marketing Pages <br /> Community Development Director Kari Collins and department staff provided an <br /> update on this new proactive economic development page in partnership with <br /> Golden Shovel Agency(GSA), a communications firm and software developer. <br /> GIS Technician Joel Koepp presented an overview of the site and marketing con- <br /> tent at GrowRoseville.com scheduled for launch on September 13, 2017, includ- <br /> ing specific sections beyond community profile demographics and the featured <br /> real estate listing module and data available to interested developers nation-wide. <br /> Housing & Economic Development Program Manager Jeanne Kelsey reviewed <br /> workforce data, programs and solutions, and the job listing section for businesses <br /> to use with assistance and approval from the city that city staff would incorporate <br /> into the information provided to employers during business retention visits. Ms. <br /> Kelsey noted social media aspects, business incentives (e.g. financing tools avail- <br /> able from the state, county and city), as well as sharing of success stories of local <br /> businesses. <br /> Ms. Collins advised that Golden Shovel consultants would continue helping staff <br /> to promote and market Roseville with new platforms and social media tie-ins; and <br /> encouraged the City Council to continue being ambassadors when attending <br /> events and activities to add that information to the site. Ms. Collins reported that <br /> a quarterly report and review of social media contacts would be provided to the <br /> City Council as this site evolved as a supplement and link with the city's website. <br /> Councilmember Willmus thanked staff for the demonstration, stating that of most <br /> importance to him is the marketing of the site and how the city chose proactive <br /> steps to get information out to directly feed information into the web page. Spe- <br /> cific to marketing, Councilmember Willmus stated that one area of concern for <br /> him was in the branding used on the page that seemed inconsistent to him in use <br /> of the Roseville logo or derivations of the current logo in some areas. Coun- <br /> cilmember Willmus noted the intent to lure firms outside the metropolitan area as <br /> well as out-of-state firms; and noted the need to clearly identify that this page was <br /> for Roseville "Minnesota" and not confused with cities of the same name in other <br /> states.
