Mayor Roe noted that <br /> this could protect information at the early stages of a potential business's search <br /> while still providing generic analytics. <br /> If and when using reverse prospecting, Councilmember Willmus questioned if <br /> there was anything proprietary that the city could protect for major developments <br /> considering Roseville and utilizing this site. <br /> Ms. Collins advised that the consultants were well aware of the need to finesse <br /> that information, suggesting that staff look to their guidance to get the necessary <br /> information to the City Council without outing any entity. <br /> Councilmember Willmus clarified that he was more concerned with competing <br /> communities rather than who was looking at this website. <br /> When looking at economic development in Roseville, Councilmember Willmus <br /> noted the importance of communicating that with neighboring communities on <br /> larger projects that may require legislative lobbying efforts (e.g. NE Metro or <br /> greater metro region or state) to ensure those relationships are in place to respond <br /> in a timely fashion to those opportunities. <br /> Ms. Collins advised that the launch was scheduled later this week with a National <br /> news release by Golden Shovel and local press releases prepared by the city's <br /> Communication Department. <br /> Mayor Roe thanked staff for the presentation. <br /> C. Discuss Possible Amendments to Real Estate Signs as Identified in City Code, <br /> Chapter 1010—Sign Regulations <br /> As detailed in the staff report of today's date, Community Development Director <br /> Collins noted the considerable number of temporary sign complaints fielded by <br /> staff this summer, specifically real estate open house signs/directional signage. <br /> Ms. Collins sought direction from the City Council as to whether amendments <br /> were needed to better regulate temporary signage in current code (Chapter <br /> 1010.08: Real Estate Signs). <br /> Councilmember Willmus stated that this was of interest to him, noting that from <br /> time to time he had fielded complaints about temporary signs, including flags and <br /> banner signs frequently displayed at shopping centers, as well as with open house <br /> real estate signage. Specific to the open house signs, Councilmember Willmus <br /> noted that they are often placed for a short time with the intent to help current res- <br /> idents market and sell their homes,bringing new residents into the community.
