The current er facilities
are not adequate for the number of users. Membership has dramatically ' eased. At the
peak usage time in January there were complaints about the lack of t locker room space.
There are conflicts for space between the program participants pool users which have
increased over the past few months. There is a shortage of ace on weekends during the
winter. BWBR Architects has presented a plan to cr additional changi.ng area within the
existing locker areas and add between 20 and 30 1 ers. Quotes were solicited, and Lund-
Martin submitted the low quote in the amounS,e $21,900. Staff believes this is an important
project to better serve customers and will a major selling point m the upcoming
membership drive in November and cember. Funds are available in the Park Improvement
Fund. Automatic showers and t iets were budgeted in the amount of $25,000. This project
would be postponed, and th ost for additional changing space and lockers would use that
funding.
Councilmember ckstrom asked if the Parks & Recreadon Commission has reviewed this
proposal. s uttunen stated thaf due to the dming of the project, it has not been reviewed
by the C9mrrussion. If approved, it is hoped that a good share of the work can be completed
during/ e pool down rime in September.
