Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, March 12,2018
Page 15
lated to the zoning overlap before adopting it. He assumed it will be taken up
probably within the next couple months.
Ms. Collins noted that the land-use patterns for all three communities are pretty
much in alignment. This zoning overlay is not as critical as the design standards.
Councilmember McGehee commented that the safety of getting the kids to school
and to the park should be the first priority.
Councilmember Willmus asked what the City of Roseville has done to put this vi-
sion plan into the public realm.
Ms. Collins clarified this vision document has not been broadcast to the commu-
nity. It is posted on the County's website. But staff has waited to present it to the
full Council before engaging with the public with it in final form.
Mr. Slack noted that the document should be in its very final form next week.
Councilmember Willmus noted this is his first time seeing the draft. He likes the
vision document, but still wants to have opportunity to look at it further and have
it back before the Council prior to adoption. He is most interested in going a little
bit further with regard to pedestrian crossings.
Mayor Roe noted that through implementation, more specific detail plans will be
developed. The County has been open and positive to everything that was identi-
fied in this vision plan.
Councilmember Laliberte stated it is important that the final version of this report
does get back to those who have already been communicated with in the area.
Additionally, she expressed agreement that the Rice Street reconstruction from
north of Larpenteur is potentially a near-term project as compared to some of the
other things included in the report. She asked about the timing of that. The staff
noted that is slated for 2020-2021.
Julie Kimball, Planning Commission, echoed what great work Mr. Slack and the
consulting team accomplished. She mentioned that there needs to be something
included in the vision plan that tells the story. When going out to the community,
it is really the story line of why the City is doing this, i.e., what are the goals and
what is trying to be solved. The City could benefit from something that tells the
story.
Mayor Roe and the Council agreed with her sentiments.
Recess
