Most of the <br /> 628 time it is just a required statutory meeting, and they have had about one complaint in the last five <br /> 629 years. Currently, Commissioner Reyerson is the appointed Commissioner to the Ethics <br /> 630 Commission. She also noted there will also be new Commissioner and ethics training in April. <br /> 631 <br /> 632 Commissioner Manke stated she would consider being on the Ethics Commission. She has been <br /> 633 on it before and they only met once. <br /> 634 <br /> 635 The Commission agreed to delay this decision until the next meeting. <br /> 636 <br /> 637 g. Book Read <br /> 638 <br /> 639 Chair Holub requested an update from the Youth Commissioners on this item. <br /> 640 <br /> 641 Youth Commissioner Iverson summarized the following five books and movie that had been <br /> 642 chosen as potential choices for the Book Read: Nothing to Envy by Barbara Demick;I am <br /> 643 Malala by Malala Yousafzai and Christina Lamb; The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander; <br /> 644 Little Bee by Chris Cleave; Signs Preceding the End of the World by Yuri Herrera; and,Rabbit <br /> 645 ProofFence (movie). <br /> 646 <br /> 647 Commissioner Manke commented she likes the third book, The New Jim Crow, because it is <br /> 648 about how mistakes made can affect a person later in life. <br /> 649 <br /> 650 Youth Commissioner Iverson agreed and said of the choices, it is most relevant to the United <br /> 651 States human rights issues. <br /> 652 <br /> 653 Commissioner Peterson inquired if any of the other books are required to be read at school <br /> 654 besides Signs Preceding the End of the World. <br /> 655 <br /> 656 Youth Commissioner Iverson confirmed none of the others were required reading. <br /> 657 <br /> 658 Commissioner Eichenlaub commented he appreciates knowing how many copies are available at <br /> 659 the library. <br /> 660 <br /> 661 Youth Commissioner Hansel stated they typically have 10 to 15 people participate in the Book <br /> 662 Read. <br /> 663 <br /> 664 Chair Holub also recommended using The New Jim Crow. It is informative and will help <br /> 665 prepare students going to college. <br /> 666 <br /> 667 Commissioner Peterson agreed and stated both IAM Malala and The New Jim Crow would be <br /> 668 great choices. <br /> 669 <br /> 670 Commissioner Groff suggested he reserve a room at the library soon. <br />
