Item 8c.
Engagement Efforts
Background
Roseville 2040 - Community Workshop 2
What's next for Roseville? Roseville residents and businesses are invited to learn about plans for
Roseville's future at"Roseville 2040 - Community Workshop 2" on November 8 and 9.
Throughout 2017, the City of Roseville has been gathering input from residents and businesses
about the 2040 Comprehensive Plan Update, which is required every 10 years by the
Metropolitan Council. The City will review the update process on Wednesday, November 8,
from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Thursday, November 9, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Roseville City
Hall, 2660 Civic Center Drive. Residents are encouraged to attend whichever session is more
convenient for them.
Phase 1 began with a community kickoff in March 2017 and centered on engaging the
community to develop a shared vision for the future of Roseville. Since then, the City has
conducted an online survey, held several focus groups, led"walkabouts" through selected
neighborhoods, posted intercept boards in various locations to gather input, and made
community-led Meetings-In-a-Box available for residents to host their own feedback sessions.
Phase 2 will focus on incorporating Phase 1 feedback into the actual chapter updates of the
comprehensive plan. Residents will have additional opportunities to refine the plan's direction in
key topic areas such as land use, housing and neighborhoods, parks, transportation and economic
development.
During the Community Workshop 2, residents will learn how their input is being incorporated,
how various plan chapters fit together to form a cohesive comprehensive plan update, and what
future engagement opportunities will be available to community members. The workshop will
also highlight the draft review process that will take place in 2018, leading up to the plan being
finalized and submitted to the Met Council.
Residents are invited to attend either workshop on November 8 or 9, and there will be other
opportunities to get involved.
