Finance Director Miller recalled that last year it was moved to August, but prior to that, it was done in mid-July. Mayor Roe recalled that it was moved to August in order to have more upfront discussion about the CIP and some other things. The Council discussed various timing options. Councilmember Laliberte asked about the timing of the City Newsletter and pos- sibly including the City Manager proposed budget, so as to start the public's awareness of the budget process. City Manager Trudgeon noted there is a July/August issue, as well as a Septem- ber/October issue. There is an early August deadline for the September/October issue. Councilmember McGehee asked if the September/October issue could be released later to accommodate the budgetary discussion. City Manager Trudgeon commented the copy can be prepared early, as it is just the City Manager's budget, not the Council's approved budget. The Council asked staff to include a preview of the City Manager's budget for the September/October issue.
