Discuss 2018-2019 Essay Contest <br /> 150 Chair Beltmann asked for comments on the 4 possible essay topics: <br /> 151 <br /> 152 1. Human Trafficking <br /> 153 2. School Safety (including bullying) <br /> 154 3. War on Drugs (in the Philippines or U.S.) <br /> 155 4. Privilege <br /> 156 <br /> 157 Commissioner Subramanian commented on the issue of human trafficking and <br /> 158 expressed support for the question: What are the social and economic burdens of <br /> 159 human trafficking, how the lessons from past can help the future regulation and <br /> 160 implementation of human trafficking. <br /> 161 <br /> 162 Commissioner Peterson suggested the issue of technology is important related to <br /> 163 human trafficking. <br /> 164 <br /> 165 Commissioner Beltmann highlighted the question regarding bullying. <br /> 166 <br /> 167 Commissioner Subarian discussed his question on bullying. <br /> 168 <br /> 169 Commissioner Eichenlaub stated he is a little reticent to focus on human trafficking, <br /> 170 as it may present difficulties for 6 1— 81h graders. Caution should be exercised, given <br /> 171 the subject matter. <br /> 172 <br /> 173 Commissioner Subramanian stated he has a daughter in 6 1 grade and he is also <br /> 174 concerned about that subject matter. <br /> 175 <br /> 176 Commissioner Holub stated she used to be a professional educator in the area of <br /> 177 human trafficking, and victims are younger than most people would like to think. She <br /> 178 thinks it is important to have professionals give the information to kids so they do not <br />
