In terms of the essay question, there is <br /> 180 also the possibility that a victim survivor may receive this essay topic, and it would <br /> 181 have to be handled very delicately. <br /> 182 <br /> 183 Commissioner Eichenlaub cautioned that the privilege-focused questions feel similar <br /> 184 to the last couple of essay questions created by the HRIEC. <br /> 185 <br /> 186 Youth Commissioner Hansel stated that bullying and school safety are both important <br /> 187 topics that all kids are aware of today. <br /> 188 <br /> 189 Commissioner Beltmann wondered if the question could combine the role of internet <br /> 190 and technology and bullying. <br /> 191 <br /> 192 Commissioner Holub suggested the following question on bullying: <br /> 193 • What is your definition of bullying? <br /> 194 • Provide an example of when you or someone you know was bullied. <br /> 195 • What can be done to stop and prevent bullying? And what can you do? <br /> 196 <br /> 197 The Commission discussed at length the wording of the question and specifically <br /> 198 whether to include an introductory paragraph. <br /> 199 <br /> 200 Commissioner Eichenlaub volunteered to brainstorm on the introductory paragraph <br /> 201 and send it to Assistant City Manager Olson. <br /> 202 <br /> 203 Chair Beltmann summarized that the essay question will come back for final review <br /> 204 by the Commission at the August 151h meeting so that Assistant City Manager Olson <br /> 205 can send it over the week of August 201h. <br /> 206 <br /> 207 d. Proclamation Updates <br /> 208 • Women's History Proclamation <br /> 209 Commissioner Peterson indicated she spoke with representatives of the <br /> 210 League of Women Voters, and they were happy with the new proclamation. <br /> 211 <br /> 212 • Fair Housing Proclamation <br /> 213 Commissioner Bolinger indicated she spoke with someone at Minnesota <br /> 214 Employment& Economic Development, and it was recommended that the <br /> 215 proclamation language mirror some of MHFA's discrimination categories. <br /> 216 She added gender identity and sexual orientation to the categories, though she <br /> 217 left the initial group in the first paragraph the same, because it was referencing <br /> 218 a 1968 law. <br /> 219 <br /> 220 The Commission provided feedback,particularly on clause 2 and 3, and <br /> 221 further edits were suggested. <br /> 222 <br /> 223 <br />
