Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, October 8, 2018
Page 22
built into this project. She thought the City needed to address the cosmetics on
the license center side as well.
Mayor Roe offered an opportunity for public comment, with no one coming for-
ward.
Etten moved, Willmus seconded, approving the proposed License Center renova-
tion project and accompanying budget not to exceed $56,000 in total, and author-
ize staff to enter into a construction agreement subject to review by the City At-
torney.
Council Discussion
Councilmember Etten stated he could not disagree with the Councilmembers who
were concerned about wanting to refresh the License Center but on the other hand
he thought this is a practical step. He thought the License Center staff will come
back to the Council for the updates when needed.
Councilmember McGehee moved that the Council allow staff to come back to the
Council with up to $40,000 or$50,000 of refresh on the License Center side.
Councilmember Etten stated he would not accept this as a friendly amendment.
Mayor Roe asked if there was a second to the amendment.
There was no second.
Mayor Roe declared the amendment failed for lack of a second.
Mayor Roe asked if there was any additional discussion on the original motion.
Councilmember Willmus stated this approach makes more sense to him. What he
heard was there may be a need for different workstations as the new systems
come into play and he would hate to update the site only to find it does not work.
Councilmember Laliberte concurred. She was supportive of this and moving for-
ward. Her comments were to keep pressure on the Council to not let this drag out.
Mayor Roe stated he was also supportive early on to go ahead with the full plan as
originally laid out and one of the purposes of getting control of the building. He
thought this plan brought solutions in the near term to the passport side.
Roll Call
Ayes: Willmus, Laliberte, Etten, McGehee and Roe.
Nays: None
