1 - Existing Lift Station View
2 - Rehabbed Lift Station View
Storm sewer system improvements: Staff continues to analyze the existing drainage
systems and localized flooding issues and is identifying mitigation projects. Staff is now
working on developing a 2019 drainage improvement project to alleviate some of these
flooding concerns. Staff has already identified several projects for 2019. Some of the
projects include:
Pavement Management Storm Water Upgrades: As part of the pavement
management project staff is looking at replacing or adding infrastructure to areas
that have had flooding issues.
o Staff will be working with the Capitol Region Watershed to install Rain
Gardens near the McCarrons Lake area as part of a targeted watershed grant.
o Staff will make some storm sewer upgrades on Western Avenue to alleviate
some backyard drainage for resident east of Western Avenue between Transit
Avenue and Brooks Avenue.
Storm Sewer Lining: A large storm sewer pipe underneath the railroad tracks on
County Road C will be lined ahead of the County Road C reconstruction project.
This segment is proposed to be lined to limit the impacts to rail traffic and
vehicular traffic.
Staff will be designing a one ac -ft underground reuse project that will incorporate
water quality, rate control, and volume reduction components. The City will be
installing this project at Evergreen Park which is located on Fairview Avenue and
County Road B, which is on the Fairview Trunk Storm Sewer System. The reuse
portion of the project will irrigate the four ballfields, which will lessen the need of
using potable water. This project will help reduce local flooding issues in an area
where the City needs to remove 12 ac -ft of volume (approx. 4 million gallons).
The City received three grants for the $700,000 project: Metropolitan Council -
$300,000; Rice Creek Watershed District - $45,000; Ramsey County Soil &
Water - $57,000.
Staff will work on maintaining Ditch 2 from the St Croix Lift Station to County
