Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission Minutes <br />November 14, 2018 – Draft Minutes <br />Page 7 of 10 <br /> <br />270 Ms. Olson stated the City can notice it as a meeting as long as she has the dates in <br />271 advance. <br />272 <br />273 Chair Beltmannasked if the Youth Commissioners wanted to do anything at the <br />274 school. <br />275 <br />276 Commissioner Peterson thought the Youth Commissioners were pretty busy with <br />277 other things at the school so she contacted Karen and will meet with her to find out <br />278 how the City can get the schools involved. <br />279 <br />280 Ms. Olson noted there are two display cases in City Hall and she thought the <br />281 Commission could use those for proclamations. <br />282 <br />283 Commissioner Peterson asked to reserve the display cases for January. <br />284 <br />285 Chair Beltmann thought at the December meeting the Commission could assign <br />286 people for each month, that way it is not falling on just one person to decorate the <br />287 display cases. <br />288 <br />289 Commissioner Bolinger stated she left an email for the principal at Parkview in <br />290 getting that school involved. She thought the Commission needed to find out what <br />291 was age appropriate and if parents should be involved. She noted she has not heard <br />292 back. She thought this was something that could be done at the High School as well <br />293 but it was important to grab the attention of the middle schoolers. She thought the <br />294 school could be a location for a documentary that is age appropriate. She stated <br />295 Homeland Security has the Blue Campaign which has videos and pamphlets for <br />296 training. <br />297 <br />298 Recess <br />299 The Commission recessed at 7:40 p.m. <br />300 <br />301 The Commission reconvened at 7:45 p.m. <br />302 <br />303 d. Overview of IAP2 & Update on Engagement Survey <br />304 Assistant City Manager Olson summarized that the Commission developed a survey <br />305 that was sent to City of Roseville staff regarding current and past outreach and <br />306 engagement practices, procedures, outcomes and desired outcomes. <br />307 <br />308 Ms. Olson presented an overview of some of the foundational aspects of public <br />309 participation from the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2). <br />310 <br />311 Commissioner Djevi asked for people who move towards the center for decision is <br />312 there any strategy in keeping them engaged. <br />313 <br /> <br />
