Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, December 3,2018
Page 18
Mayor Roe asked if there was a way to state in the document that the City intend-
ed in the next ten years to have conversations about the future land use.
Mr. Lloyd thought the fact that these five areas are called out is an indication that
the City does intend to do active planning or to be vigilant for opportunities to be
involved in redevelopment of them. He thought something could be added in the
area where the Pacal Business Center is discussed if the Council has some sense
of a specific timeline or even if the City Council wanted to elevate that area into
the priority areas as opposed to the opportunity areas as broken out.
Mayor Roe thought this was between opportunity and priority at this point.
Councilmember Etten stated he did not see this as a high priority item in the way
that the other areas are and how much it affects the residents. He stated he was
open to discussions.
Mayor Roe thought what the Council has said at this point is that the City would
work with any parties involved with any redevelopment being proposed.
Councilmember Laliberte asked if a sentence could be included stating the Coun-
cil is interested in looking at this. It would highlight the fact that this is an area of
more opportunity.
Mayor Roe thought something could be included in the introductory paragraph on
page 17. "The City may consider greater focus on any of these areas that might
come from just the market place," or words to that effect.
Councilmember McGehee thought there was a lot of serious discussion during the
time of the 2030 plan and staff might want to go back to review that.
Mayor Roe asked if Mr. Lloyd had some guidance as to a potential sentence to
add on page 17 introduction.
Mr. Lloyd stated he did and to make it more clear with any of the opportunity are-
as that the City Council might choose to give greater attention, greater focus to
redevelopment of them.
Mayor Roe asked to add the word "proactively", which puts the onus on the
Council.
Mr. Lloyd stated the third change was in the Parks and Recreation Chapter. There
was a suggestion to add into the collection of Natural Resource Management
Goals. Something more specific to Natural Wildlife Corridors or Natural Path-
ways for wildlife to move between habitats. He stated in discussing with the
Parks and Recreation Department there were two factors for not taking any action
