Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission Minutes <br />March 20, 2019 –Draft Minutes <br />Page 11of 18 <br />446 Commissioner Peterson thought if the Commission could come back next meeting <br />447 with the Foundation piece done and then discuss what suggestions the Commission <br />448 wants to make towards the City Council in regard to the outreach piece based on the <br />449 foundation piece, that would be helpful and maybe try to meet with the Council later <br />450 in May. That might be a good goal to reach for in order to keep theCommissionon <br />451 track. <br />452 <br />453 Chair Beltmann stated she will work on the Foundation piece and bring a draft of the <br />454 summary of staff survey results plus a draft of best practices to the April meeting with <br />455 the hope that the Commission can go through that and finalize what the Commission <br />456 wants to bring forward to the City Council at the end of May. <br />457 <br />458 Chair Beltmann requested the Commission discuss Item e, Discuss 2019 Work Plan <br />459 because it corresponds to this item and without objection, Chair Beltmann amended <br />460 the order of business accordingly. <br />461 <br />462 e. Discuss 2019 Work Plan <br />463 City Manager Trudgeon stated the Commission has previously discussed identifying <br />464 issues, topics or projects for the 2019 Work plan. <br />465 <br />466 Chair Beltmann stated she put together a yearly calendar for the Commission to map <br />467 out the work being done. She stated this was last updated in November 2018. <br />468 <br />469 The Commission reviewed the 2019 Work Plan. <br />470 <br />471 Chair Beltmann noted she can go back and update the Work Plan. She thought the <br />472 only thing that needed to be updated was the Community Engagement Project <br />473 timeline. She indicated she would bring the updated Work Plan to the April meeting. <br />474 <br />475 Chair Beltmann stated for the Engagement Project she would bring back the draft of <br />476 the Foundation document to the April meeting with the plan to review them and <br />477 finalize the documents and talk about what the Commission wants to bring to the City <br />478 Council. In May the Commission will go in front of the City Council to talk about <br />479 the Engagement Project and provide an update and talk about next steps. Inthe <br />480 interim the Commission will ask Ms. Olson to create a Google Doc where the <br />481 Commission can track community contacts. <br />482 <br />483 c.Parade Planning Discussion <br />484 City Manager Trudgeonstated the 2019 Rosefest Parade takes place on Monday, June <br />485 24 at 6:15 p.m. Overthe past several months the Commission has discussed ways to <br />486 better engage and represent the variety of cultures in the City during this event. At <br />487 this time, the parade is full, but there is a unit that has been reserved for the HRIEC <br />488 and/or all Commissions. <br />489 <br /> <br />
