Regular City Council Meeting
Monday,April 8, 2019
Page 11
Councilmember Etten thought the Council had a good robust discussion to better
understand the financial and other repercussions and he is ready to move forward.
Roll Call
Ayes: Willmus, Laliberte, Groff, Etten and Roe.
Nays: None
e. Consider Approving an Amendment to the Lease Agreement with Sprint
Spectrum Realty Company
Finance Director Chris Miller briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the RCA
and related attachments dated April 8, 2019.
Mayor Roe noted there are other agreements with other providers as well, which
are outlined in the staff report. He noted with those agreements, there is an ex-
pected $1.1 million in expected revenue between now and the end of the lease
terms, subject to early termination which is in addition to this particular contract.
Mr. Miller stated that was correct and it is the presence of this lease with Sprint
that gives the City the authority to enter into a lease agreement with the other or-
ganizations.
Councilmember Groff stated on the second page, it references the decommis-
sioned fire station, and wondered how this lease affects that and if it is going to
limit possible uses for the site.
Mr. Miller stated that is a reference to the conversation the Council just had, with
what happens to the leases if development anywhere in the City could potentially
interfere with the lessee's ability to have a wireless service provider on either of
the towers. Miller indicated this is something for the the Council to think about
down the road.
Councilmember Laliberte stated it may be separate, but wondered if the City
should start to put something in place for that land so when the land does transfer,
it will have some conditions for use.
Mayor Roe stated the Zoning Code already has height limitations in it and he
thought the maximum for anything in that zone is probably sixty to eighty feet,
which is a little over half as tall as the tower locations.
Mayor Roe offered an opportunity for public comment, with no one coming for-
ward.
Etten moved, Groff seconded, approving the Amendment to the Lease Agreement
with Sprint Spectrum Realty Company LLC subject to final approval by the City
Attorney.
