Regular City Council Meeting
Monday,April 8, 2019
Page 4
Councilmember Willmus stated he was going to make that exact point and
thought it would be a nice tie-in to look to the work that Northeast Youth and
Family Services is doing.
Councilmember Laliberte agreed with highlighting Northeast Youth and Family
Services as well and liked the addition of the Alzheimer's and Dementia Aware-
ness Group and CHAT. The other thing that occurred to her when she was read-
ing this is the support that the Council has had for the City's own public safety
employees to have that training when interacting with the public.
Mayor Roe stated both the training of the City's Public Safety personnel to help
people in the community with mental health issues and certainly the crisis inter-
vention training could be mentioned. He stated there is an item on the Consent
Agenda to approve some help for mental health for the City's public safety pro-
viders as well and another tie into to this that might make sense to try to figure out
a way to incorporate it without making it a five-page proclamation.
Councilmember Etten agreed with what was said.
Commissioner Peterson asked if the City Council wanted the Commission to
reach out to CHAT and Northeast Youth and Family Services to get their feed-
back.
Mayor Roe thought there should be mention of the organizations in the proclama-
tion.
Mayor Roe stated on the Asian and Pacific Islander proclamation, on the second
to the last Whereas on the first page, he believed it should say "many Asians and
Pacific Islanders"rather than"Asian and Pacific Islanders."
Mayor Roe observed and wanted to talk about the Americans with Disabilities
proclamation, middle Whereas that states, "Roseville is becoming inclusive." He
thought it might be better stated as "Roseville is working to become inclusive."
Mayor Roe asked if the Council wanted to approve this pending the changes com-
ing back, just as the proclamations come back.
Groff moved, Willmus seconded, approving the language for the proclamations
for the months of May — December with the corrections added and authorize the
HRIEC to continue to work on developing plans for an additional proclamation to
be featured in September(Hispanic Heritage Month).
Council Discussion
