Regular City Council Meeting
Monday,April 15, 2019
Page 4
City to do more to have the Alliance promote this service, and is there something
the City can do during upcoming Clean-up Day.
Mr. Trudgeon stated to date there has not been much done with the Alliance be-
cause it is still new but is a great opportunity to be out there on a Saturday, when
it is a Clean-up Day to provide information to residents. He thought it was a great
idea.
Councilmember Etten stated there is a similar service in White Bear Lake and he
wondered how the service in Roseville compared with the start up for that. He al-
so wondered if it was a similar growth process or more successful right away.
Mr. Olson thought White Bear Lake was slightly more successful, partly because
his company is more recognized there, but the growth has not been too dissimilar.
Most of the multi-unit buildings in White Bear Lake have management staff that
is very supportive in allowing them to go in and make presentations. The man-
agement may or may not be helping so the messaging may not get out there and
the service may be forgotten when it is only once a week. He stated his company
has started to go out every three months in White Bear Lake on a campaign and
reminder to ask for more presentations, maps, and Q&A. His company has found
in White Bear Lake that more seniors are using the bus now that they realize the
service has existed and been running for over a year and a half.
Mr. Olson stated this is something that is very much in need of marketing and as a
service provider, his company is counting on, whether it is help from the City, or
more events happening to get the message out.
Mayor Roe stated as people start to get out into the Rice Street gardens and clean-
ing up their garden spots to plant, having someone or materials there to make
connections with people would be a way to get the message out. He thought the
City wanted to make sure that part of the loop is used to keep it going.
Mr. Olson stated one of the things that has transitioned in the White Bear Lake ar-
ea, is a pilot program his company is now extending to be able to look at what
would it take to have the call center receive calls from people who are living in
their homes very close to the route, to call up and schedule a ride.
Mayor Roe offered an opportunity for public comment, with no one coming for-
ward.
b. Larpenteur Avenue Safety Improvements Discussion
Public Works Director Marc Culver briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the
RCA and related attachments dated April 15, 2019.
