Regular City Council Meeting Monday, May 6, 2019 Page 18 Etten moved, Willmus seconded, to appoint Keith Allen and Grace Lee to the Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission for terms ending March 31, 2020 and March 31, 2022. Council Discussion Councilmember Etten stated Mr. Allen presented himself very well and was thoughtful about ways to plan for and carry out engagement. Ms. Lee offered some great perspective in her work through her schoolwork on the Board with immigrants who live in Roseville, great connections into those immigrant com- munities, and will be a fantastic way to get at some of the City goals discussed. Councilmember Willmus concurred with Councilmember Etten's comments and found Mr. Allen's background and focus on engagement certainly came through strongly in the interview process. Grace Lee has applied to the Commission a couple times and the perspective she would bring to the Commission is a tremen- dous benefit as well. Assistant City Manager Olson inquired which person would be appointed to the full term versus the partial term. Councilmember Etten named Grace Lee to the partial term vacancy and Keith Al- len to the full-term vacancy. Councilmember Willmus concurred. Roll Call Ayes: Etten, Willmus, Laliberte, Groff and Roe. Nays: None. Mayor Roe stated in regard to the Finance Commission the advertising produced five applicants. Once the Council appoints 2 persons to fill the original vacancies advertised, that left 3 remain- ing applicants for the new vacancy that arose after the initial advertisement and interviews. The appointment policy calls for twice the applicants as the number of vacancies, and this situa- tion would seem to technically fulfill that requirement." Etten moved, Groff seconded, to appoint Ryan Lee and Dan Sagaser to the Fi- nance Commission for terms ending March 31, 2022. Council Discussion
