Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, May 6, 2019
Page 27
Councilmember Laliberte wanted to talk about the Commission's section of the
Engagement Toolkit. This might originate with HRIEC and be adopted by the
Council, but she thought if there are going to be recommendations or tools in
place that other Commissions, where the expectation is to follow that too,
wouldn't those Commissions utilize that tool kit as well. She thought a task
should be added in order to add the other Commissions into the process through
some kind of an education step.
Councilmember Willmus requested looking at various means of social media that
can be used that are not being used now. He thought the City should be more
proactive about using those types of tools.
Mr. Trudgeon reviewed the Housing priority with the City Council.
Mayor Roe thought a measure of success ought to be progressive in increasing the
number of units in the different types of housing the City is targeting.
Councilmember Willmus stated the Maxfield Study does a really good job and fo-
cuses on multi-family housing and he thought if a similar study were to be looked
at and focus on for example, medium density residential, not only is it going to
show a significant shortfall in Roseville but more broadly regionally a significant
shortfall will be seen so that may be something the Council should have a Com-
mission further study.
Mr. Trudgeon reviewed Capital Improvements with the Council, improving Pe-
destrian Connectivity and Safety.
Mayor Roe stated under measures of success, does it make sense to have an ac-
counting for the number of facilities installed of the types identified.
Mr. Culver clarified the intent, when he put this together, it was to be more con-
sistent on the application of the crosswalks. It is not necessarily the goal to install
more crosswalks across the City. He thought the goal was to have more specific
criteria and guidelines where the City is installing them, where the City goes be-
yond just installing crosswalks as far as flashers, etc., and even beyond that to
help with education campaigns.
Councilmember Laliberte thought education could be something added as a
measure of success.
Mr. Trudgeon reviewed Capital Improvements, Improve Storm Water Facilities
with the City Council.
The Council was fine with this priority.
