Regular City Council Meeting
Monday,June 17, 2019
Page 26
ments that the Met Council initially asked for, to have that come back and have
the bar moved in process is a little frustrating. He thought that it is important for
the Met Council to hear that from time to time.
Councilmember Etten indicated he would love to vote for the amendment except
somehow the Council has to move this forward, so the Council is making this
document work because the City does not control that. He would love to vote yea
on that, but thought Councilmember Laliberte was counting on some of the Coun-
cil to vote nay just to make it work. He thought the Council was being set up.
Councilmember Laliberte did not think she was setting anyone up and anyone
could vote for the amendment and not vote for the separation.
Mayor Roe noted the amendment to the motion is only to exclude the BRT Over-
lay from the motion to authorize submission to the Met Council and then there
would have to be a subsequent vote on the specific part of it going forward.
Mayor Roe indicated he was going to be voting against the motion to amend be-
cause while he understands the process concern, he also understands the type of
update the City is in right now. He was supportive of submitting this and the City
and residents will have a lot more conversations about this area before too long.
Roll Call
Ayes: Willmus, and Laliberte
Nays: Etten, Groff, and Roe
Mayor Roe indicated the motion failed 2 ayes to 3 nays. He stated the original
motion is back on the table to vote.
Roll Call
Ayes: Willmus, Laliberte, Etten, Groff and Roe
Nays: None.
Councilmember Willmus suggested the Council move the item on Policy Priority
Planning to a meeting in July.
Councilmember Etten thought at some point these will need to be discussed and
approved and it is already June.
Councilmember Willmus did not think the Council will get to that point in the
agenda in ten minutes.
Councilmember Laliberte indicated she would support that because it was tabled
at the last meeting to give the Council time to discuss so she did not want to rush
it now.
