Regular City Council Meeting Monday,June 17, 2019 Page 27 Mayor Roe stated July 8th looked like a meeting that will give the Council time to discuss that. The Council postponed discussion until the July 8, 2019 meeting. g. State Fair Parking Discussion Public Works Director Culver briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the RCA and related attachments dated June 17, 2019. Councilmember Etten appreciated this because he knew staff spent a lot of time on this. He believed the RCA talked about going out to see how this works and it seemed like some areas might be a quarter mile and might not be areas that need to be done. He asked staff to look at that and ways to bring sanity back if it be- comes overwhelming. Councilmember Laliberte thanked staff for putting all the work into this and work to come. She is supportive of areas where there is a safety concern. She did think this will have unintended consequences. She thought there will be just as many people upset with the new parking rules as there were before. Councilmember Willmus indicated he was willing to give this a try. He appreci- ated the work staff has done. His observation with areas around Centennial and Roseville Covenant those residents will not have anywhere with the guests to park the way it is on either side of the street. Councilmember Groff echoed the statements especially the safety statement which he was most concerned about. He thought this could be fine tuned as it goes along. Mayor Roe asked if the signs will be metal with a metal pole. Mr. Culver indicated the signs will be temporary and have the temporary sign ma- terials used in the past. He noted that Mr. Steve Grams from the MN State Fair was at the meeting to answer any questions the Council had. h. Discuss Creation of Special Event Permit Policy City Manager Trudgeon briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the RCA and related attachments dated June 17, 2019. Etten moved, Groff seconded, extension of the City Council the meeting to com- plete the rest of the agenda items other than the 2019-20 Policy Priority Planning Document item. Roll Call
