Regular City Council Meeting Monday,August 26, 2019 Page 12 f. Consider Declaring a Vacancy on the Finance Commission Assistant City Manager Rebecca Olson briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the Request for Council Action and related attachments dated August 26, 2019. She noted staff has reached out to the four applicants from the previous group and have heard back from two of them that there is interest. Ms. Davies and Mr. Bruce Bester are both interested candidates. Councilmember Willmus thought Ms. Davies would be a good candidate for the Finance Commission. Willmus moved, Etten seconded, to declare the vacancy and appoint Ms. Davies to the Finance Commission. Council Discussion Councilmember Etten thought Ms. Davies has excellent background in these are- as, noting the Council has talked about looking for balance on the Commissions and Ms. Davies would help provide some of that. Councilmember Laliberte indicated she did not want to dispute her background knowledge but wanted to acknowledge that Mr. Bester was quite impressive as well. She understood the desire to have a diverse group of people having those discussions. Councilmember Groff felt Ms. Davies would also be good on the Planning Com- mission. Roll Call Ayes: Willmus, Laliberte, Groff, Etten, and Roe. Nays: None. g. Consider Approval to Enter into a Ramsey County Cooperative Agreement to Fund a Full-Time Criminal Sexual Conduct Crimes Investigator Chief Rick Mathwig briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the Request for Council Action and related attachments dated August 26, 2019. Councilmember Groff thought is a good step in the right direction and asked if this is a future cost to the city after next year. Chief Mathwig indicated that was correct. Councilmember Groff asked if there was an issue with the program, would the city still be obligated to continue it.
