Consider Declaring a Vacancy on the Finance Commission <br /> Assistant City Manager Rebecca Olson briefly highlighted this item as detailed in <br /> the Request for Council Action and related attachments dated August 26, 2019. <br /> She noted staff has reached out to the four applicants from the previous group and <br /> have heard back from two of them that there is interest. Ms. Davies and Mr. <br /> Bruce Bester are both interested candidates. <br /> Councilmember Willmus thought Ms. Davies would be a good candidate for the <br /> Finance Commission. <br /> Willmus moved, Etten seconded, to declare the vacancy and appoint Ms. Davies <br /> to the Finance Commission. <br /> Council Discussion <br /> Councilmember Etten thought Ms. Davies has excellent background in these are- <br /> as, noting the Council has talked about looking for balance on the Commissions <br /> and Ms. Davies would help provide some of that. <br /> Councilmember Laliberte indicated she did not want to dispute her background <br /> knowledge but wanted to acknowledge that Mr. Bester was quite impressive as <br /> well. She understood the desire to have a diverse group of people having those <br /> discussions. <br /> Councilmember Groff felt Ms. Davies would also be good on the Planning Com- <br /> mission. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: Willmus, Laliberte, Groff, Etten, and Roe. <br /> Nays: None. <br /> g. Consider Approval to Enter into a Ramsey County Cooperative Agreement <br /> to Fund a Full-Time Criminal Sexual Conduct Crimes Investigator <br /> Chief Rick Mathwig briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the Request for <br /> Council Action and related attachments dated August 26, 2019. <br /> Councilmember Groff thought is a good step in the right direction and asked if <br /> this is a future cost to the city after next year. <br /> Chief Mathwig indicated that was correct. <br /> Councilmember Groff asked if there was an issue with the program, would the <br /> city still be obligated to continue it. <br />
