Public Hearing to Consider the Approval of an Off-Sale Liquor License and Cigarette/Tobacco Products License to MGM Wine & Spirits, Inc. dba MGM Wine & Spirits Located at 1149 Larpenteur Avenue West Assistant Manager Olson briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the Request for Council Action and related attachments dated October 21, 2019. Mr. Mike Maglich, principal owner of MGM Liquor was at the meeting and indi- cated he was very excited about reopening the store in Roseville and maintaining its business presence in the city. Mayor Roe asked if Mr. Maglich had a good understanding of the city's serv- er/manager training program and expect to be compliant with that. Mr. Maglich indicated he was aware and it has been part of their hallmark for the business over the years to have a very comprehensive training program for the employees and management, including himself He noted he is a member of the Licensed Beverage Association, has been on the Board of Directors there for over four years, and it is very important for them to have a zero tolerance in their busi- ness. Mayor Roe reviewed public hearing protocol and opened and closed the public hearing at approximately 6:31 p.m. for the purpose of receiving public input on the above-referenced Off-Sale Liquor License and Cigarette/Tobacco Products License; with no one appearing for or against. Laliberte moved, Willmus seconded, approval of the issuance of the 8th Off-Sale Liquor License and Cigarette/Tobacco License to MGM Wine& Spirits, Inc. Roll Call Ayes: Willmus, Groff, Etten, Laliberte and Roe. Nays: None. c. Consider an Abatement Request to Perform an Abatement for Unresolved Violations of City Code at 2799 Merrill St. Building Official Dave Englund summarized the request as detailed in the Re- quest for Council Action of this date; and noted a bench handout incorporated into the Request for Council Action providing an extract of Council meeting minutes of October 21, 2019. He noted there has been no response from the property owner to date. Councilmember Groff asked what happens if the city does the work and this property goes into tax forfeiture in 2020 and the bill is not paid. Mr. Englund indicated the city would certify the charges to the taxes and those would be paid after the sale of the property.
