ATTACHMENT C <br />538 actual costs of the demolition or repair of the structure less revenues obtained if salvage was <br />539 conducted prior to demolition or repair. Costs shall include, but not be limited to, expenses incurred <br />540 or necessitated related to demolition or emergency repairs, such as asbestos survey and abatement if <br />541 necessary; costs of inspectors, administrative fees,testing agencies or experts retained relative to the <br />542 demolition or emergency repairs; costs of testing; surveys for other materials that are controlled or <br />543 regulated from being dumped in a landfill; title searches; mailing(s); postings; recording; and <br />544 attorney fees expended for recovering of the cost of emergency repairs or to obtain or enforce an <br />545 order of demolition made by a code official, the governing body or board of appeals. <br />546 DETACHED.When a structural element is physically disconnected from another and that <br />547 connection is necessary to provide a positive connection. <br />548 DETERIORATION. To weaken, disintegrate, corrode, rust, decay or lose effectiveness. <br />549 DWELLING UNIT. A single unit providing complete, independent living facilities for <br />550 one or more persons, including permanent provisions for living, sleeping, eating, cooking <br />551 and sanitation. <br />552 EASEMENT. That portion of land or property reserved for present or future use by a person <br />553 or agency other than the legal fee owner(s) of the property. The easement shall be permitted <br />554 to be for use under, on or above a said lot or lots. <br />555 EQUIPMENT SUPPORT. Those structural members or assemblies of members or <br />556 manufactured elements, including braces, frames, lugs, hangers or saddles, that transmit <br />557 gravity load, lateral load and operating load between the equipment and the structure. <br />558 EXTERIOR PROPERTY.The open space on the premises and on adjoining property <br />559 under the control of owners or operators of such premises. <br />560 EXTERMINATION. See Pest Elimination The control and elimination of insects, rats or <br />561 other pests by eliminating their harborage places; by removing or making inaccessible <br />562 materials that serve as their food; by poison spraying, fumigating, trapping or by any other <br />563 approved pest elimination methods. <br />564 GARBAGE. The animal or vegetable waste resulting from the handling, <br />565 preparation, cooking and consumption of food. <br />566 GUARD. A building component or a system of building components located at or near <br />567 the open sides of elevated walking surfaces that minimizes the possibility of a fall from <br />568 the walking surface to a lower level. <br />569 HABITABLE SPACE. Space in a structure for living, sleeping, eating or cooking. <br />570 Bathrooms, toilet rooms, closets, halls, storage or utility spaces, and similar areas are not <br />571 considered habitable spaces. <br />572 HISTORIC BUILDING. Any building or structure that is one or more of the <br />573 following: <br />574 1. Listed or certified as eligible for listing, by the State Historic Preservation <br />575 Officer or the Keeper of the National Register of Historic Places, in the <br />576 National Register of Historic Places. <br />577 2. Designated as historic under an applicable state or local law. <br />578 3. Certified as a contributing resource within a National Register or state or locally <br />579 designated historic district. <br />580 HOUSEKEEPING UNIT.A room or group of rooms forming a single habitable space <br />581 equipped and intended to be used for living, sleeping, cooking and eating which does not <br />582 contain, within such a unit, a toilet, lavatory and bathtub or shower. <br />583 IMMINENT DANGER.
