<br />813 9. Decorative features. All cornices, belt courses, corbels, terra cotta trim, wall facings and
<br />814 similar decorative features shall be maintained in good repair with proper anchorage and
<br />815 in a safecondition.
<br />816 10. Overhang extensions. All overhang extensions including, but not limited to canopies,
<br />817 marquees, signs, metal awnings, fire escapes, standpipes and exhaust ducts shall be
<br />818 maintained in good repair and be properly anchored so as to be kept in a sound
<br />819 condition. When required, all exposed surfaces of metal or wood shall be protected from
<br />820 the elements and against decay or rust by periodic application of weather-coating
<br />821 materials, such as paint or similar surfacetreatment.
<br />822 11. Stairways, decks, porches and balconies. Every exterior stairway, deck, porch and
<br />823 balcony, and all appurtenances attached thereto, shall be maintained structurally
<br />824 sound, in good repair, with proper anchorage and capable of supporting the imposed
<br />825 loads.
<br />826 12. Chimneys and towers. All chimneys, cooling towers, smoke stacks, and similar
<br />827 appurtenances shall be maintained structurally safe and sound, and in good repair. All
<br />828 exposed surfaces of metal or wood shall be protected from the elements and against
<br />829 decay or rust by periodic application of weather-coating materials, such as paint or
<br />830 similar surface treatment.
<br />831 13. Handrails and guards. Every handrail and guard shall be firmly fastened and capable
<br />832 of supporting normally imposed loads and shall be maintained in good condition.
<br />833 14. Window, skylight and door frames. Every window, skylight, door and frame shall
<br />834 be kept in sound condition, good repair and weathertight.
<br />835 a.Glazing. All glazing materials shall be maintained free from cracks and holes.
<br />836 b.Openable windows. Every window, other than a fixed window, shall be
<br />837 easily openable and capable of being held in position by window
<br />838 hardware.
<br />839 15. Insect screens. During the period from May 1 to November 1, every door, window
<br />840 and other outside opening required for ventilation of habitable rooms, food preparation
<br />841 areas, food service areas or any areas where products to be included or utilized in food
<br />842 for human consumption are processed, manufactured, packaged or stored, shall be
<br />843 supplied with approved tightly fitting screens of not less than 16 mesh per inch (16
<br />844 mesh per 25 mm) and every swinging door shall have a self-closing device in good
<br />845 workingcondition.
<br />846 Exception:Screens shall not be required where other approved means, such
<br />847 as air curtains or insect repellent fans, are employed.
<br />848 16. Doors. All exterior doors, door assemblies, operator systems if provided, and hardware
<br />849 shall be maintained in good condition. Locks at all entrances to dwelling units, rooming
<br />850 units and guestrooms and sleeping units shall tightly secure the door. Locks on means
<br />851 of egress doors shall be in accordance with Section 906.09.B.
<br />852 17. Basement hatchways. Every basement hatchway shall be maintained to preventthe entrance of
<br />853 rodents, rain and surface drainage water.
<br />854 18. Guards for basement windows. Every basement window that is openable shall be
<br />855 supplied with rodent shields, storm windows or other approved protection against the
<br />856 entry of rodents.
<br />857 19. Building security.Doors, windows or hatchways fordwelling units, room units or
<br />858 housekeeping units shall be provided with devices designed to provide security for the
