ATTACHMENT C <br />1301 B. Heating Facilities <br />1302 1. Facilities required. Heating facilities shall be provided in structures as required by <br />1303 this section. <br />1304 2. Residential occupancies. Dwellings shall be provided with heating facilities capable of <br />1305 maintaining a room temperature of 68°F (20°C) in all habitable rooms, bathrooms and <br />1306 toilet rooms based on the winter outdoor design temperature for the locality indicated in <br />1307 Appendix D of the International Plumbing Code. Cooking appliances shall not be used, <br />1308 nor shall portable unvented fuel-burning space heaters be used to provide space heating to <br />1309 meet the requirements of thissectionrequired heating. <br />1310 Exception: In areas where the average monthly temperature is above 30°F (-1°C), <br />1311 a minimum temperature of 65°F (18°C) shall be maintained. <br />1312 3. Heat supply. Every owner and operator of any building who rents, leases or lets one or <br />1313 more dwelling units or sleeping units, rooming unit, dormitory or guestroomon terms, <br />1314 either expressed or implied, to shall furnish heat to the occupants thereof shall supply <br />1315 heat during the period from September 30th to April 1st to maintain a temperature of not <br />1316 less than 68°F (20°C) in all habitable rooms, bathrooms, and toilet rooms. <br />1317 Exceptions: <br />1318 1. When the outdoor temperature is below the winter outdoor design temperature <br />1319 for the locality, maintenance of the minimum room temperature shall not be <br />1320 required provided that the heating system is operating at its full design capacity. <br />1321 The winter outdoor design temperature for the locality shall be as indicated in <br />1322 Appendix D of the International Plumbing Code. <br />1323 2. In areas where the average monthly temperature is above 30°F (-1°C) a <br />1324 minimum temperature of 65°F (18°C) shall be maintained. <br />1325 4. Occupiable work spaces. Indoor occupiable work spaces shall be supplied with heat <br />1326 during the period from September 30th to April 30th to maintain a temperature of not <br />1327 less than 65°F (18°C) during the period the spaces are occupied. <br />1328 Exceptions: <br />1329 a. Processing, storage and operation areas that require cooling or special <br />1330 temperature conditions. <br />1331 b. Areas in which persons are primarily engaged in vigorous physical activities. <br />1332 5.Room temperature measurement.The required room temperatures shall be measured <br />1333 3 feet (914 mm) above the floor near the center of the room and 2 feet (610 mm) inward <br />1334 from the center of each exteriorwall. <br />1335 C. MechanicalEquipment <br />1336 1. Mechanical appliances. All mechanical appliances, fireplaces, solid fuel-burning <br />1337 appliances, cooking appliances and water heating appliances shall be properly installed <br />1338 and maintained in a safe working condition, and shall be capable of performing the <br />1339 intended function. <br />1340 2. Removal of combustion products. All fuel-burning equipment and appliances shall <br />1341 be connected to an approved chimney or vent. <br />1342 Exception:Fuel-burning equipment and appliances which are labeled for unvented <br />1343 operation. <br />1344 3.Clearances.All required clearances to combustible materials shall bemaintained. <br />1345 4. Safety controls. All safety controls for fuel-burning equipment shall be maintained <br />1346 in effective operation. <br />30 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
