Abatement of electrical hazards associated with fire exposure. The provisions of this <br />1398 sectionshallgovern therepairandreplacementofelectricalsystemsandequipmentthat <br />1399 have been exposed to fire. <br />1400 d. Electrical equipment. Electrical switches, receptacles and fixtures, including furnace, <br />1401 water heating, security system and power distribution circuits, that have been <br />1402 exposed to fire, shall be replaced in accordance with the provisions of the <br />1403 International BuildingCode. <br />1404 Exception: Electrical switches, receptacles and fixtures that shall be allowed to be <br />1405 repaired where an inspection report from the equipment manufacturer or approved <br />1406 manufacturer's representative indicates that theequipment hasnot sustained <br />1407 damagethat requiresreplacement. <br />1408 <br />1409 E. Electrical Equipment <br />1410 1. Installation. All electrical equipment, wiring and appliances shall be properly <br />1411 installed and maintained in a safe and approved manner. <br />1412 2. Receptacles. Every habitable space in a dwelling shall contain at least two separate and <br />1413 remote receptacle outlets. Every laundry area shall contain at least one grounded-type <br />1414 receptacle or a receptacle with a ground fault circuit interrupter. Every bathroom shall <br />1415 contain at least one receptacle. Any new bathroom receptacle outlet shall have ground <br />1416 fault circuit interrupterprotection. All receptacle outlets shall have the appropriate <br />1417 faceplate cover for the location. <br />1418 3. Lighting fixtures Luminaires. Every public hall, interior stairway, toilet room, <br />1419 kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, boiler room and furnace room shall contain at least <br />1420 one electric lighting fixture luminaire. Pool and spa luminaires over 15 V shall have <br />1421 ground fault circuit interrupter protection. <br />1422 4. Wiring. Flexible cords shall not be used for permanent wiring, or for running through doors, <br />1423 windows, or cabinets, or concealed within walls, floors, or ceilings. <br />1424 F. Elevators, Escalators and Dumbwaiters <br />1425 1.General.Elevators, dumbwaiters and escalators shall be maintained to sustain safely all <br />1426 imposed loads, to operate properly, and to be free from physical and fire hazards. in <br />1427 compliance with ASME A17. I. The most current certificate of inspection shall be on <br />1428 display at all times within the elevator or attached to the escalator or dumbwaiter; or the <br />1429 certificate shall be available for public inspection in the office of the building operator. <br />1430 The inspection and tests shall be performed at not less than the periodic intervals listed <br />1431 in ASME A17.1, Appendix N, except where otherwise specified by the authority having <br />1432 jurisdiction. <br />1433 2. Elevators. In buildings equipped with passenger elevators, at least one elevator shall <br />1434 be maintained in operation at all times when the building is occupied. <br />1435 Exception: Buildings equipped with only one elevator shall be permitted to have <br />1436 the elevator temporarily out of service for testing or servicing. <br />1437 G.
