ATTACHMENT C <br />1439performing the required function. <br />1440 906.09: FIRE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: <br />1441 A. General <br />1442 1. Scope. The provisions of this chapter shall govern the minimum conditions and standards <br />1443 for fire safety relating to structures and exterior premises, including fire safety facilities <br />1444 and equipment to be provided. <br />1445 2. Responsibility. The owner of the premises shall provide and maintain such fire safety <br />1446 facilities and equipment in compliance with these requirements. A person shall not <br />1447 occupy as owner-occupant or permit another person to occupy any premises that do not <br />1448 comply with the requirements of thischapter. <br />1449 B. Means OfEgress <br />1450 1. General. A safe, continuous and unobstructed path of travel shall be provided from <br />1451 any point in a building or structure to the public way. Means of egress shall comply <br />1452 with the International Fire Code. <br />1453 2. Aisles. The required width of aisles in accordance with the International Fire Code shall <br />1454 be unobstructed. <br />1455 3. Locked doors. All means of egress doors shall be readily openable from the side from <br />1456 which egress is to be made without the need for keys, special knowledge or effort, <br />1457 except where the door hardware conforms to that permitted by the International <br />1458 Building Code. <br />1459 4. Emergency escape openings. Required emergency escape openings shall be maintained <br />1460 in accordance with the code in effect at the time of construction, and the following. <br />1461 Required emergency escape and rescue openings shall be operational from the inside of <br />1462 the room without the use of keys or tools. Bars, grilles, grates or similar devices are <br />1463 permitted to be placed over emergency escape and rescue openings provided the <br />1464 minimum net clear opening size complies with the code that was in effect at the time of <br />1465 construction and such devices shall be releasable or removable from the inside without <br />1466 the use of a key, tool or force greater than that which is required for normal operation of <br />1467 the escape and rescue opening. <br />1468 C. Fire-Resistance Ratings <br />1469 1. Fire-resistance-rated assemblies.The required fire-resistance rating of fire- <br />1470 resistance- rated walls, fire stops, shaft enclosures, partitions and floors shall be <br />1471 maintained. The provisions of this chapter shall govern maintenance of the materials, <br />1472 systems and assemblies used for structural fire resistance and fire-resistance-rated <br />1473 construction separation of adjacent spaces to safeguard against the spread of fire and <br />1474 smoke within a building and the spread of fire to or from buildings. <br />1475 2. Unsafe conditions. Where any components are not maintained and do not function as <br />1476 intended or do not have the fire resistance required by the code under which the <br />1477 building was constructed or altered, such components or portions thereof shall be <br />1478 deemed unsafe conditions in accordance with Section 110 of the Minnesota StateFire <br />1479 Code. Components or portions thereof determined to be unsafe shall be repaired or <br />1480 replaced to conform to that code under which the building was constructed or altered. <br />1481 Where the condition of components is such that any building, structure or portion <br />1482 thereof presents an imminent danger to the occupants of the building, structure or <br />1483 portion thereof, the fire code official shall act in accordance with Section 110 of the <br />33 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
