ATTACHMENT C <br />1530 c. Door operation. Swinging fire doors shall close from the full-open position and <br />1531 latch automatically. The door closer shall exert enough force to close and latch <br />1532 the door from any partially open position. <br />1533 5. Ceilings. The hanging and displaying of salable goods and other decorative materials from <br />1534 acoustical ceiling systems that are part of a fire-resistance-rated horizontal assembly shall be <br />1535 prohibited. <br />1536 6. Testing.Horizontal and vertical sliding and rolling fire doors shall be inspected and tested <br />1537 annually to confirm operation and full closure. Records of inspections and testing shall be <br />1538 maintained. <br />1539 7. Vertical shafts. Interior vertical shafts, including stairways, elevator hoist ways and service and <br />1540 utility shafts, which connect two or more stories of a building shall be enclosed or protected as <br />1541 required in Chapter 11 of the International Fire Code. New floor openings in existing buildings <br />1542 shall comply with the International Building Code. <br />1543 8. Opening protective closers. Where openings are required to be protected, openingprotective <br />1544 shall be maintained self-closing or automatic-closing by smoke detection. Existing fusible-link- <br />1545 type automatic door-closing devices shall be replaced if the fusible link rating exceeds l35 °F <br />1546 (57°C). <br />1547 D. Fire Protection Systems <br />1548 1. General. Inspection, testing and maintenance. All systems, devices and equipment to detect a fire, <br />1549 actuate an alarm, or suppress or control a fire or any combination thereof shall be maintained in an <br />1550 operable condition at all times in accordance with the International FireCode. Fire detection, alarm <br />1551 and extinguishing systems, mechanical smoke exhaust systems, and smoke and heat vents shall be <br />1552 maintained in accordance with the Minnesota StateFire Code in an operative condition at all times, <br />1553 and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. <br />1554 2. Fire protection systems required by this code, the Minnesota StateFire Code or the Minnesota State <br />1555 Building Code shall be installed, repaired, operated, tested and maintained in accordance with this <br />1556 code. A fire protection system for which a design option, exception or reduction to the provisions of <br />1557 this code, the Minnesota State Fire Code or the Minnesota State Building Code has been granted <br />1558 shall be considered to be a required system. <br />1559 3. Fire protection systems. Fire protection systems shall be inspected, maintained and tested in <br />1560 accordance with the following Fire Code requirements. (See Chapter 9 Minnesota State <br />1561 Fire Code) <br />1562 a. Automatic sprinkler systems. <br />1563 b.Automatic fire-extinguishing systems protecting <br />1564 commercial cooking systems. <br />1565 c. Automatic water mist extinguishing systems. <br />1566 d. Carbon dioxide extinguishing systems. <br />1567 e. Carbon monoxide alarms and carbon monoxide detection systems. <br />1568 f. Clean-agent extinguishing systems. <br />1569 g. Dry-chemical extinguishing systems. <br />1570 h. Fire alarm and fire detection systems. <br />1571 i. Fire department connections. <br />1572 j.
