I am proposing three new full-time firefighters to the 2020 budget based on the need to <br />properly staff the city for Fire Department emergency responses. <br />I have not included the three Lieutenant positions in the 2020 budget. While I agree with the <br />rationale behind the need for Lieutenants, especially for leadership development, given the tight <br />resources in this budget cycle I have chosen not to fund it this year. In addition, the Lieutenant <br />position would be better included in the organization once there are additional firefighters on <br />shift.
