SUSTAINABILITY UPDATE 2020
MINNESOTA
GREENCORPS
MEMBER
In September 2020, a Green Corps member
will join the City of Roseville in advancing their
sustainability initiatives. The Minnesota Green -
Corps is an AmeriCorps program, with additional
funding and support from the Minnesota Pollu-
tion Control Agency. GreenCorps members are
assigned to municipalities, nonprofits, and other
public sector host sites. The focus areas of
GreenCorps members are in pollution reduction,
community readiness and outreach, green infra-
structure improvements, and waste reduction.
Roseville's GreenCorps member will primarily
focus on creating and implementing Roseville's
Building Benchmarking program. In the spring
and summer of 2020, Roseville has been working
with Hennepin County, the Great Plains Institute,
and the Center for Energy and the Environment
to begin brainstorming what a Building Bench -
marking program would look like for the City.
The future GreenCorps member will develop this
program further, with likely implementation in
zwi.
Minnesota
GreenCorps
NNE 2020
Additionally, the GreenCorps member will identify
City fleet for electrification, expand the City's sustain -
ability efforts by advancing GreenStep Cities, provid-
ing outreach about Roseville's SolSmart Gold status,
and coordinating with other Ramsey County cities to
provide regional benefit to improve sustainability and
reduce emissions.
ENVIRONMENTALLY
PREFERABLE
PURCHASING POLICY
In February 2019, the City of Roseville adopted the
Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Policy (EPPP)
in an effort to become more conscious with city pur-
chasing and operations. This commitment to sustaina-
bility brings many benefits, including supporting sus-
tainable businesses and products, setting an example
for residents and businesses, lowering overall costs,
and minimizing environmental impacts.
The EPPP has not yet been fully implemented with-
in the City's practices. The Engineering Intern for sum-
mer 2020 has created a packet of recommendations
and resources for implementation of this policy.
(continued on next page)
5
