Buying a set of reusable plates, cups, and silverware to have available <br />for City meetings and events is recommended. Washing and reusing this dishware at City <br />Hall would successfully decrease the waste of single use products. <br />• When necessary to purchase single use dishware, Roseville should only purchase <br />biodegradable or compostable products. This eliminates trash and waste, and can enhance <br />a closed loop system of reuse. <br />In restrooms, Roseville should aim to only purchase compostable towels. Along with <br />compost bins in all City restrooms, these towels can be composted and saved from the <br />landfill. <br />Office Supplies <br />• All toner and ink jet cartridges should be remanufactured and recyclable. <br />• To make Roseville's purchasing more localized, the City should create a contract with <br />Office Depot, a local vendor. By maintaining a contract, lists of frequently purchased and <br />sustainable office supplies, food supplies, and dishware can be made to make it easy for <br />employees to know which products to buy. More information can be found here. <br />City Buildings <br />• All trash bags purchased and utilized in City buildings should be biodegradable. <br />Start compost collection at all City buildings. <br />By getting compost bins setup in all City buildings, Roseville can take a major step <br />forward in waste reduction. Many products and food waste currently being thrown in the <br />trash can instead be composted, removing these materials from the landfill and instead <br />using them to create compost to be used by the City and residents. These bins would be <br />placed in kitchens, restrooms, and common spaces. These bins would also ensure events <br />and meetings would be successfully composting food and other materials. The content in <br />these compost bins would be collected and taken to the compost collection site in the <br />City, where residents currently bring their organics recycling to. <br />
