<br />Continued Page 2. <br /> <br />.Mr. Meyer from the Twin City Disposal Service Company offered their <br />plan for garbage and rubbish collection and discussed the possibility of <br />having a franchise to allow them to collect in the entire Village. They <br />prefer the franchise arrangement in order to protect them because their <br />large incinerator is a costly thing to construct and maintain. He was <br />told that the attorney is going to draw up an ordinance for the licensing <br />of collectors. <br /> <br />Don Nelson inquired about what is to be done about the condition of <br />Burke, East of Lexington. Easements cannot be obtained on the entire <br />street, and Mr. Carley said he would like the members of the Council to <br />consult with him because of the drainage problem involved. It, was agreed <br />to look the situation over on Thurdday morning at 9:00 A.M. <br /> <br />.Mr. Carpenter, 2631 No. Lexington, appeared with his little girl about <br />trouble they have had with a neighbor youth who torments the children, <br />uses filthy talk, and threatens them with knives. The night before he <br />struck the girl, giving her a black eye and bruises. Mr. CarlsCI'I. reported <br />that he saw the evidence the previous evening and she had blood allover <br />her. Mr. Karon said he would classify it as a case of assault and it <br />belonged under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff's office or the County <br />Attorney. The young man has threatened to kill them if they report any- <br />thing. It was agreed that the conetable go to see the parents first and <br />if that doesn't do any good, Mr. Carpenter should go to the County <br />Attorney's office. <br /> <br />The Clerk reported that the No Parking signs at Lake Josephine <br />have been raised tb"they can be more easily seen. <br /> <br />The Clerk also reported on his letter to the County asking if there <br />were any plans for the widening of County Road B. The widening of the <br />road is under consideration of the planning board but no decision has <br />been made. <br /> <br />Willmus moved, Hammersten seconded, that Robert Pierce be approved <br />for weed cutting work with the road crew at $1.60 per hour as of June 29. <br />Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Wi~lmus moved, Hammersten seconded, that the mower be rented from <br />Vernon Schmidt at $3.00 per hour, to include gas, oil and repairs. <br />Roll call ~es-(5) N~es-(O). <br /> <br />There was discussion as to whether to install our own gas pumps. <br />Membrez moved, Hammersten seconded, that we buy one pWllp for gasoline <br />and one for diesel fuel and have them installed. Mayor Connor suggested buying a larger flag. <br /> <br />Carlson reported on his talks with the State and County patrols about <br />more police service on Cleveland, Snelling, Hamline, Lexington and T.H. 36. <br />The State will not give additional patroling at certain set hours unless <br />there is a serious situation involved.
