Con tinued Page 2.

or safety of the community.
was an expansion.

He requested that the Council see if there

Vincent Courtney, representing William Howard, owner of the trailer
camp, was present pinch-hitting for Claude Allen. He stated they were
. here for a point of information and there was nothing pending before the
- Council here today. First, Mr. Howard has now acquired the property on
Victoria near Highwq 36, measuring l6~' on Victoria and approximately
1300' west from Victoria and abutting on Highway 36. He has made applica-
tion to the State Department of Health for the necessary licenses. Mr.
Howard knows his responsibility. The Cooks operated a trailer camp on
these premises since prior to May 12, 1942. The fact question seems to
be whether or not the use was a use which applied to the entire area or
to a limited tract. Over the past number of years since 1942 they have
used a very substantial part of the tract as a trailer park. That is an
issue which has to be decided.

Mr. Courtney then wished to clarify the point as to what revenue is
contributed by a trailer park. In 1951, a law was passed for regulation
of trailer parks. The parks p~ $1.50 per month per trailer, which
amounts to about $l7.S0 a year for each trailer. Of this, 25¢ goes to
the County Treasurer, 75¢ goes to the local school district, and 50¢
to the municipality. JIr. Howard intends to comply with all ordinances of
the Village and laws of the State. He has already invested a substantial
amount of money in acquiring this property.

Mayor Connor said there has not been any application made of any
kind. If the owners are now installing things that are in violation of
our ordinances, the inspector will be instructed to put a red tag on the
job to stop the work.

Bruce Rice requested that as long as pipe is being laid now, the work
be stopped immediately. 1Ir. Courtney l!1aid that the "work will be stopped
as of now".

Mayor Connor declared the hearing closed.

Connor moved, seconded by Hammersten, that the Clerk be instructed to
notify the inspector to investigate the work at once, and if not in ac-
cordance to law, put a red tag on it, and that Mr. Howard be notified in
wri ting that we have been advised that he is doing certain plumbing work
without first obtaining a permit. Roll call Ayes-(5) N~es-(O).

Connor moved, seconded by Membrez, that we have Taylor and McCaskill
Co. help to set up our records under the direction of Hammersten, and
assisted by Mr. Carley, up to the present time. Roll call !yes-(S) N~es-O.

Consideration was given to the àdvisability of publishing the recent
auditing statement submitted by Taylor, McCaskill & Co. and also the
liquor store audits as we get them every three months. After much dis-
cussion, it was decided to bring it up at a later meeting.

357

Letter to
Wm.
