Item5.c <br />August 24, 2020 <br />1 EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING <br />2 OF THE <br />3 CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />4 <br />5 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * <br />6 <br />7 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of <br />th <br />Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly held on the 24 <br />8 day of August, 2020, at 6:00 <br />9 p.m. <br />10 <br />11 The following members were present: , , , , and Mayor . <br />12 and the following were absent: . <br />13 <br />14 Member introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 RESOLUTION No. <br />18 <br />19 RESOLUTION #/--%.$).' #()%& 2)#+ -!4(7)' &/2 ()3 $%$)#!4%$ 3%26)#% 4/ <br />20 4(% #)49 /& 2/3%6),,% !3 0/,)#% #()%& <br />21 <br />22 WHEREAS, Chief Mathwig began his career as a patrol office with Roseville in 1989, served as <br />23 investigator and sergeant starting in 1998 was promoted to Lieutenant in 2001 and became a <br />24 Captain in 2006, and was appointed Police Chief in 2010; and <br />25 <br />26 WHEREAS, Chief Mathwig will be retiring from the Roseville Police Department after serving <br />27 the community for over 30 years; and <br />28 <br />29 WHEREAS, Chief Mathwig has served the City of Roseville with integrity, professionalism, and <br />30 dedication throughout his career; and <br />31 <br />32 WHEREAS, Chief Mathwig has demonstrated superior leadership in addressing systemic racism <br />33 in law enforcement and local government through his involvement in the Imagine Roseville <br />34 community conversations about race and policing and with his participation in the Government <br />35 Alliance on Race and Equity training and actively serving as key member of the Roseville <br />36 GARE implementation team; and <br />37 <br />38 WHEREAS, Chief Mathwig initiated a commitment to recruit and hire diverse law enforcement <br />39 candidates for the Roseville Police Department through several programs including the <br />40 Community Service Officer program, the Commitment to Diversity officer hiring program, and <br />41 the Pathways to Policing grant program; and <br />42 <br /> <br />
