34 The Developer and their contractor willwork with the City and their contractor to provide
35 access to remove the stockpile.
36 The amendment allows the City to stockpile excess material from the Twin Lakes Station project site
37 on a portion of the site. The resulting stockpile will reduce hauling from offsite and should help
38 shorten the project schedule. Based on preliminary estimates, the stockpiled materials should result
39 in an overall savings of about $500,000 compared to importing fill from other sites. The amendment
40 protects the property owner by assuring the material will be removed by the City by the August 1,
41 2021 date so they can continue to develop the site.
42 The attached amendment was drafted by the City Attorney.
43 F INANCIAL I MPLICATIONS
44 Per this amendment, the City will pay the developer’s contractor about $84,000 (depending on actual
45 quantities stockpiled) directly to stockpile the material. That cost was negotiated outside of the PIC
46 working directly with the developer’s contractor. In contrast, the City would likely pay about $15-
47 20 per cubic yard if the material were imported from offsite. This results in an overall savings of
48 about $500,000. The cost for the material will be included in the overall costs of the RCD 4 project.
49 S TAFF RECOMMENDATION
rd
50 Approve the Twin Lakes 3Addition Public Improvement Contract Amendment.
51 R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION
rd
52 Motion to approve the Twin Lakes 3 Addition Public Improvement Contract Amendment.
Prepared by: Jesse Freihammer, City Engineer/Assistant Public Works Director
Attachments: A: Amended Public Improvement Contract
B: Location Map
