Miscellaneous Updates: <br />• Neel Gas Project <br />o Neel Energy will be completing its Northeast Metro Gas project this summer. The gas <br />main will be replaced on County Road B between Hamline Avenue and Lexington <br />Avenue and on Hamline Avenue between County Road B and County Road C. Work <br />began on Monday April 16. Current work is on Hamline Avenue with the following <br />impacts: <br />Hamline Avenue, between Rose Place and County Road C <br />• Line installation and material staging. <br />• One-way northbound only traffic. <br />Hamline Avenue, south of County Road B <br />• Line installation, material staging and restoration. <br />• Southbound county road B is closed. <br />• Expected to reopen on October 10. <br />Hamline Avenue, between County Road B2 and County Road B <br />• Line installation, material staging and restoration. <br />• Sidewalk and crosswalk closures. <br />Southbound Hamline Ave closed south of County Road B through <br />October 10. <br />• County Road B, between Hamline Avenue and Lexington Avenue <br />• Line installation, material staging and restoration. <br />• One-way westbound only traffic. <br />County Road B is anticipated to fully open on October 21. <br />Hamline Avenue near County Road C is anticipated to fully open on October 28. <br />Council Update: <br />• Below is a highlight of items recently presented to and/or acted on by the City Council. More <br />information can be found in the agenda packets and minutes for the referenced Council <br />meeting. <br />o September 12: Civic Campus Master Plan Pre -Design Project Update. <br />o September 19: Reviewed minimum fund balance policy for Street Maintenance Fund, <br />Finance Commission recommendations for 2023 Budget, appointed commission <br />members for Planning and PEWT Commissions. <br />Sustainability Update <br />• Staff had abooth at the Wild Rice Festival on Saturday Sept. 17. The event had great <br />attendance and several people signed up to win a free rain barrel and compost bin. People <br />could also sign up for a free Home Energy Squad visit, thanks to Neel Energy. <br />• No Mow/Mow Less May will be a commission topic for October. No Mow May was <br />implemented in 2022, and had good success to increase awareness of pollinators and habitat. <br />Staff will go over some options for potentially revamping the program for 2023, which will <br />include a Mow Less May option, due to some lessons learned from this year. <br />• Green Step Cities is being evaluated internally to see where the City has made improvements <br />over the past year, and see what other areas we can improve on. Staff are confident that we <br />will keep our Step 5 status, but we are always looking for other ways to improve. <br />• The Sustainability Updates are going from every month to every -other -month starting in <br />September/October. This will provide staff additional time between updates, and also ensure <br />that the updates provide pertinent and relevant information. <br />• Tapped and Uncorked on September 23 will be a Zero Waste Event for the first time. In 2014, <br />the Taste of Rosefest became a Zero Waste event and now the event diverts —92% (394 lbs) of <br />
