City Manager Patrick Trudgeon briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the Re- quest for Council Action and related attachments dated January 23, 2023. Councilmember Strahan asked Mr. Trudgeon how many openings were there ex- pected to be over and above the possible reappointments made tonight. Mr. Trudgeon believed the Planning Commission and Public Works Environment and Transportation Commissions would have one. Councilmember Strahan appreciated having all of the information shared with the Council and thought given COVID and an unusual last couple of years along with people unable to fulfill their terms, she did know that there were many people seek- ing these roles. She would like to propose the Council interview all of the candi- dates so the Council has the opportunity to make committees that work well to- gether because there have been people removed and constituted in all different ways. She thought it falls on the Council to create great teams that provide them great opportunity and great information. Also, neither Councilmember Schroeder or herself have had the opportunity to interview these candidates in the past, espe- cially the folks who maybe had a lot of opportunities but have not been able to attend. She would like to recommend that all of the commissioners up for reap- pointment be interviewed with the Council. Councilmember Groff agreed with Councilmember Strahan to have input from the reappointments. He thought the interviews went fairly quickly last year.
