The existing pavement width of the roadway varies in from 32 to 40 feet wide.
The road is effectively 32 feet wide with two 14 foot drive lanes and an 8 foot
bituminous pathway.
From the pavement study, the existing street sections consists of surficial
bituminous pavement ranging in thickness from about 3% to 5% inches overlying
apparent aggregate base materials
consisting of silty sands with gravel and
gravelly silty sands. The apparent
aggregate base material varied from
about 6 to 10 inches in thickness. The
pavement shows signs of distress, such as
transverse and longitudinal cracking, and
alligator cracking. There is evidence of
previous maintenance, including patching
and seal coating. The current Pavement
ty .
All
r
Condition Index rating was 61-75 (Scale 0-
100) for from a June 2020 automated survey, however, due to extensive
patching in the corridor a 2023 manual rating put several road segments in the
40-60 range.
2. Pathway
The pathway was paved in 2014,at street grade, along the south edge of County
Road B. Break away plastic bollards were placed along the double white line for a
handful of summers. Bollards are no longer in place.
3. Parking
Parking is currently allowed on the north side of County Road B and on both
sides of most side streets. Parking is not allowed on Acorn nor Eustis due to the
narrow width of those roadways. There are some areas on the north side of CR B
with informal gravel shoulders used for parking. Only occasionally on -site visits
has staff noted vehicles parked on the gravel shoulders.
4. Road Alignment
The existing right-of-way varies from 66-88 feet wide. The existing pavement
width of the roadway varies in from 32 to 40 feet wide. Given the variability of
the right-of-way and pavement widths, the road's centerline is not consistently
located in the center of the right-of-way. There are minimal horizontal curves on
the existing roadway. Minor vertical curves exist and may need to be adjusted to
meet current design standards.
The project corridor has ten street intersections. The intersections and their
traffic control are noted below.
Project 24-02 County Road B Reconstruction Feasibility Report
pi
