DIVISION 2 <br />SITE WORK <br />02510 - BITUMINOUS PAVING <br />3. MATERIALS <br />A. Parking lot (automobile traffic and fire lane) provide the following: <br />1. Base Course: 41" of base conforming to MN DOT No. 3138 Class 5 <br />aggregate. <br />2. Wear course: 21" of plant mixed bituminous surfacing conforming to MN <br />DOT 2341 with AC-1, 85/100 penetration. Apply in 1 lift. <br />B. Main driveway (heavy duty area) provide the following: <br />1. Base Course: 61" of base conforming to MN DOT No. 3138 Class 5 <br />aggregate. <br />2. Wear Course: 31" of plant mixed bituminous surfacing conforming to MN <br />DOT 2341 with AC-1, 85/100 penetration. Apply in 2 lifts. If there <br />is more than 72 hours lag time between lifts, apply tack coat between <br />lifts. <br />3. Bituminous Tack Coat: MN DOT 2357 RC-250. <br />C. Pavement marking material: Paint to be a high -visibility, fast drying, <br />non -bleeding type sealer and finish for asphalt. Equal to Bituba r Zone <br />Marking brand as manufactured by Devoe and Raynolds. Color of Paint is <br />white. <br />4. INSTALLATION (MEW BITUMINOUS AREAS) <br />A. Roll parking lot and roadway subgrade with a suitable roller to a hard <br />surface keeping top level at 6" or 9" below finished elevation shown. <br />B. Bituminous paving shall be applied in accordance with MN DOT Spec. and <br />with a distributor meeting these specifications. Roll entire surface <br />until there is no further evidence of compaction and until all roller <br />marks are eliminated, using suitable roller. Finish grades not otherwise <br />shown shall be uniform levels or slopes between poie is where elevations <br />are given or such points and existing finish grades. Finish surfaces <br />shall be without depressions, which will pocket water. <br />C. Base and Binder Course: <br />1. The bituminous mixture shall be uniformly compacted for the full depth <br />of each layer to a density not less than 75% of the density obtained <br />when a sample of the mixture is compacted by the 50 Blow Marshall <br />density compaction methods.
