DIVISION 3 <br />CONCRETE <br />03200 - CONCRETE REINFORCEMENT <br />concrete, ceramic or <br />plastic may be used <br />in place of <br />metal accessories <br />when approved by Architect. <br />D. Welded Wire Fabric - <br />ASTM A 185 Steel <br />wire sp otwelded <br />at intersections and <br />of size indicated. <br />When size is not <br />noted, it shall <br />be 6 x 6 x 10/10 inch <br />mesh (#10 ga.). Use <br />wire reinforcing <br />in all slabs on <br />grade and elsewhere <br />as indicated. <br />E. <br />Smooth Dowel Bars for Construction Joints: conform to ASTM A-36, Grade <br />60. Where indicated, provide a metal dowel cap at one end of dowel to <br />permit longitudinal movement of dowel within concrete section. Provide <br />for movem:�nt which equals joint width plus 1/2". Unless otherwise <br />indicated, use 5/8" diameter dowels spaced 18" o.c. <br />4. <br />WOR KMANS f f I P <br />A. <br />Immediately after delivery, reinforcing steel shall be sorted for size, <br />shape and length or by final usage. Store on racks clear of ground, and <br />protect at all times from the weather. Shop shall bundle and tag. <br />B. <br />Only material free from rust, scale, grease or other adhering substance <br />shall be placed in the forms. Place in exact positions and spacing <br />shown. Maintain spacing between forms and bars shown. Securely fasten in <br />position so materials do not become displaced during placing of <br />concrete. Cleaning, bending, placing and splicing of reinforcement shall <br />be done in accordance with requirements of the state and local Building <br />Code and approved shop drawings. <br />C. <br />Where single lengths of bars are not available, shorter bars may be used. <br />0. The Architect shall be notified after placement in the forms and prior to <br />pouring concrete. Approval of reinforcing by the Architect shall be for <br />placement, spacing and tying only. It shall not act to relieve the <br />Contractor of responsibility for structural integrity of the building. <br />E. Unlesr otherwise indicated, provide minimum concrete protective covering <br />for reinforcement as follows: <br />1. Concrete deposited against earth. 3". <br />2. Formed surfaces exposed to weather or in contact with earth: 2" for <br />reinforcing bars No. 6 or larger; 1-1/2" for reinforcing bars less <br />than No. 6. <br />3. Interior surfaces: 3/4" for slabs and walls. <br />F. Assure that all reinforcement, at time concrete is placed, is fr-q of mud, <br />oil, or other materials that may adversely affect or reduce bond. <br />Reinforcement with rust, mill scale or a combination of both will be <br />5264 SECTION 03200 - 2 <br />U <br />
