DIVISION 6 <br />WOOD AND PLASTICS <br />r <br />06110 - ROUGH CARPENTRY <br />T. <br />Rough Hardware: Furnish all rough hardware required, including nails, <br />screws, bolts, lag screws, cinch anchors, strap anchors, toggle bolts, <br />shot anchors and similar items. All rough hardware required to be of <br />proper size and type for use intended and for materials to be fastened. <br />Install adequate hardware to insure substantial and positive anchorage. <br />Use hot dip galvanized or aluminum nails at exterior work. Nailing into <br />wood plugs is not acceptable for any work. Where shot anchors are used, <br />they shall be of type and size recommended by manufacturer for conditions <br />of use. <br />U. <br />Diagonal strap bracing = 1-1/2" wide, 16 ga. continuous strap. <br />V. <br />Security Screen a (Tenant Storage) 1/2" mesh <br />3. <br />WORKMANSHIP AND INSTALLATION <br />A. <br />Standards: Except as otherwise indicated, comply with "Manual of House <br />Framing" by National Forest Products Association, including nailing, <br />fi restoppi ng, anchorage, framing and bracing. <br />B. <br />Use only sound, thoroughly seasoned, well -manufactured materials of the <br />longest practical lengths and sized to minimize ,jointing. Use materials <br />free from warp which cannot be easily corrected by anchoring and <br />attachment. Sort out and discard warped materials and material with other <br />defects which would impair the quality of work. <br />C. Install plumb, level, true and square to dimensions shown and required. <br />Allow for finishes where necessary. Framing to have square cuts with full <br />bearing surfaces. Shim and block where required. <br />D. Anchor all work in substantial, accurate, neat (where exposed) manner and <br />as required to insure permanent installation holding to required <br />dimension. <br />E. Do not impair structural members by improper cutting or drilling. <br />F. Floor Joist: Pre-engineered ,foist shall not be placed over 24" o.c. Size <br />as noted on drawings. Align ,joist with wa l 1 studs with fu l l end bearing <br />as detailed. Provide solid blocking 2" thick at all bearing unless <br />otherwise indicated. <br />1. Do not cut Joist within four inches of support center line. Top and <br />bottom flanges may never be cut. Holes for pipes, ducts, etc. may be <br />drilled into the web when manufacturers instructions are followed. <br />G. Wall Studs: Studs shall conform to the following: <br />1. Exterior studs shall be 2 x 6's, 24" o.c. <br />5264 SECTION 06110 -4- <br />1 <br />
