f <br />SECTION 02200 - EXCAVATION AND EMBANKMENT <br />PART 1. GENERAL <br />1.1 Requirements of Mh/DOT Specification 2105.1 apply as specified, <br />except existing bituminous areas shall be broken up and disposed off -site <br />in a legal manner. <br />PART 2. PRODUCTS <br />2.1 Excavated materials specified in Mn/DOT Specification 2105-A1, , <br />-A7, and 2105-C1, -C3 apply. - <br />2.2 Common excavation material as approved by owner's representative <br />shall be used in fill. <br />2.3 Excavated topsoil shall be stockpiled prior to later placement. The <br />topsoil shall then be mixed to achieve a 40/30/30 mix (topsoil/peat/sand). <br />2.4 Topsoil fertilizer; apply a fertilizer of 2.00 lbs/1,000 sq.ft. of <br />Potash and 5.00 lbs/1,000 sq.ft. of phosphate, by tilling in the top 4-6 <br />inches of soil prior to seeding. Apply a nitrogen fertilizer of 0.5 <br />lbs/1,000 sq.ft. by raking into surface prior to seeding. <br />PART 3. EXECUTION <br />3.1 Requirements of Mn/DOT Specification 2105.3 apply as specified except <br />mixed topsoil shall be placed to a depth of 6 inches in areas to be seeded, <br />which includes area with construction limits except walking path and the <br />two softball -field infields. <br />3.2 Shape subgrade below softball field infields as indicated on the <br />drawings. The subgrade shall be sloped down toward center of infield to <br />avoid entrapment of water on the impermeable subgrade. <br />Refer <br />02700 - Site Utilities for installation of subdrain system at lowto Section <br />points <br />the subgrade. Contractor shall use special care to shape the subgrade <br />below the infields. <br />3.3 All embankments or fill shall be com <br />Specification 2105.3F1, Specified Density Method, in accordance with Mn/DOT <br />3.4 In order to maximize the area behind the ballfield backstops and <br />foul -lines, the area adjacent to the railroad spur shall be filled as shown <br />on the drawings. <br />0 <br />
