•Merila and Associates
STS project 93492
December 19, 1984
-3-
ANALYSIS AND RESULTS
Subsurface Exploration
The seven (7) soil borings drilled for this exploration were performed
using a track -mounted all terrain vehicle auger type drill rig which
used continuous flight augers to advance the borings to full depth.
The borings were numbered B-17 through B-23, with the initial sixteen
borings drilled during previous studies of this site.
While drilling, representative soil samples were obtained using the
split -barrel and Shelby tube sampling procedures in general conformance
with ASTM specification D 1586 and D 1587, respectively. Continuous
field logs of the drilling procedures and soil samples obtained were
maintained by the drill crew. The drilling and sampling procedures are
described in more detail in the Appendix of this report.
The soil samples recovered during the drilling operations were returned
to our laboratory for further visual examination, classification and
laboratory testing.
r,
