MEMORANDUM <br />Page Three <br />July 24,1989 <br />Parking Decks (Continued) <br />Action Due Item Task <br />2.10 Issue: Construction Schedule <br />Comment: August 1 - Break ground for utility relocation. <br />September 1- Break ground for south deck construction. <br />November 15 - Complete south deck. <br />The only time there will be a net parking loss will be between <br />August 1 and November 15. <br />Building Renyovation <br />2.11 Issue: Applicable Code <br />Comment: It was recommended that the 1988 UBC be used rather than the <br />1985, in that the 1988 code should be adopted by the time <br />permits are needed. <br />2.12 Issue: Construction Type <br />Comment: Type of work to be done includ,-s: <br />Install vaulted skylights the length of the mall with smaller <br />skylights over the sidecourts to Wards and Penney's. <br />Remodel ceiling and floor elements in the mall space. <br />Cosmetic work on walls/soffits especially above the neutral <br />band. <br />Increase lighting levels in the mall space. <br />Improve the life/safety issues with better smoke evacuation, <br />sprinkler coverage (and monitoring) and exiting. <br />Remodel of existing Daytons into approximately 80,000 <br />square feet of new G.L.A.. <br />Resolution: The mall is a Group B-2 building and new construction will be of <br />Type II F.R. construction. <br />2.13 Issue: Automatic Sprinkler <br />Comments: Mall code requires that there be separate zones for the mall and <br />tenant zones. <br />Proposed: In remodel of existing tenant areas flow switches will be installed <br />on the sprinkler lines with smoke detectors installed in each <br />tenant unit. <br />The converted Daytons area will be separated by zone as per <br />code. There will probably be five zones. <br />Mechanical rooms for elevator equipment and electrical rooms <br />should be sprinklered (electric panels will require shielding). <br />
