'N
MEMORANDUM Page 2 September 15, 1995
C. The two larger washouts west of the new Physical Education Building should be
filled with good soil, seeded and protected with a wood fiber blanket. Look into
shade tolerant grasses for these areas. Dale suggested possibly using perennial rye
for quick genmination. Tim Callahan (adjacent property owner) wanted trees,
shrubs and ferns planted in these areas also as per a report submitted by the
College to the Watershed District a couple of years ago. The College will check
into this. Kraus Anderson will fill, seed and put fiber blanket on these areas.
d. The large washout in the vicinity of the Physical Education Building pon.a outlet
will be corrected with the current building construction.
e. A broad, shallow washout area (about 10' x 20') west of Riley Hall should be
reseeded and protected with wood fiber blanket. What existing vegetation is
present should grow back up through the fiber blanket. Extend the wood fiber
blanket to just below the tow of the slope. Add an additional silt fence for
protection by the toe of the slope.
f. Some erosion is occurring on a steep trail which extends from Little Johanna Lake
to the Campus drive south and west of Riley Hall. Dale recommended that in the
future the College add a bituminous curb to the west side of the drive to divert
storm runoff away from the hillside and into the Physical Education Building
storm water pond. Dale said this was a recommendation, not a requirement.
4. Tim Callahan questioned if there were new trees proposed between the new Physical
Education Building and the hillside by the lake (currently there are not). He said he
recalled that this was part of the approved 1986 PUD plan. TKDA and the College will
check into this.
5. The City needs to have information to them by Tuesday, September 19th in order to get
information packets to Council Members for the September 25th Council Meeting.
