1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />I <br />1 <br />1 <br />it is further proposed that the secondary roadway will be closed <br />to vehicular traffic directly in front of the Life and Health <br />Fitness Center, through the use of gates, most of the time to <br />promote unhindered pedestrian movements between the Center and <br />the outdoor athletic fields. The secondary access w III function <br />primarily as p.n alternative emergency vehicle access to the <br />campus; as a facility and service vehicle access to the proposed <br />Life and Health Fitness Center and as a secondary Ingress -egress <br />for major campus activities and events when the gates near the <br />Center would be opened. <br />The proposed typical roadway section i <br />consists of a minimum 24 foot wide <br />concrete curls and gutter section <br />bituminous pavement. The roadways are <br />9-ton design standard and the roadway <br />provided in Appendix D. <br />B. Therefore, a <br />vari ance to the number of parka ng stal I s requi red w i I I be <br />sought. <br />1 <br />During the school day at Northwestern College, the on - <br />campus <br />parking demand is generated primarily by the <br />following three (3) <br />groups: <br />- Col I ege empi oyees-adm i ni strati ve staff, sery ice <br />staf f and f acu I ty. <br />- On -campus resident students. <br />- Commuter students. <br />' <br />For th e f a I I q ua rte r of 1985, Northwestern Gb 1 1 ege h ad a <br />total enrollment of 975 equivalent full-time students, <br />consisting of 739 on -campus <br />resident students (or about <br />75% of the total enrollment) and 272 commuter students (or <br />approximately 25% of the total <br />enrollment), and a. staff of <br />approximately 100 employees. <br />Of the 739 residents students, 357, or approximately 50%, <br />had vehicles on campus while 92, or 33%, of the 272 <br />commuter students registered vehicles to park on campus. <br />The 100 employees registered 90 vehicles to park on <br />campus. <br />�I <br />1 -6- 86) 21 <br />
