MINNESOTA 55155 (612) 297.3504 <br />SUSAN ROBERTSON <br />DIRECTOR <br />Whereas state policy as expressed in the Waste Management Act <br />of 1990 supports the concept of reuse and recycling to minimize <br />the ultimate disposal of hazardous waste, as well as the concept. <br />of generator -initiated approaches to achieve these goals; and <br />Whereas heavy metals and inorganic solutions and sludges <br />constitute 19 percent of Minnesota's hazardous waste generation; <br />Whereas the Metropolitan Recovery Corporation ha's requested <br />assistance of the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission and the <br />Metropolitan Council in the establishment of a centralized metal <br />recovery.facility to achieve the recycling and reuse of heavy <br />metal wastes; and <br />Whereas this is an innovative example of generators working <br />together to develop a cooperative approach to proper hazardous <br />waste management; <br />therefore; <br />Now/be it resolved that the Legislative Commission on Waste <br />Management urges the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission and <br />the Metorpolitan Council to support establishment of a centralized <br />metal recovery facility. <br />October 12, 1983 <br />,Rep.
