35 Received report on, and provided feedback regarding the Parks and Recreation <br />36 Scholarship Fund. <br />37 Provided feedback on the search for new recreation management software. <br />38 Discussed possible approaches to, and methodology for a recreation needs <br />39 assessment. <br />40 Discussed the City's participation in the Commission for Parks and Recreation <br />41 Accreditation (CAPRA) Program. <br />42 Reviewed the Accelerated Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Program, updated public tree <br />43 inventory, and provided feedback on the forestry program. <br />44 <br />45 Based on the conversations that have occurred with the commission, several important <br />46 initiatives are currently in progress: <br />47 Work on the new park at 2381 County Road B. is nearing completion and it is on <br />48 track to open in the Spring of 2025. <br />49 An RFP has been issued, and responses received, for new Recreation Management <br />50 Software. <br />51 A vendor has been selected and engagement has been conducted for the more <br />52 inclusive playground at Lexington Park, scheduled to be installed in the spring of <br />53 2025. <br />54 Work on the Natural Resources Master Plan and Project List Update is nearly <br />55 complete. <br />56 The Roseville Skating Center ice arena lights are being replaced with LED lights to <br />57 improve efficiency. <br />58 The Accelerated EAB Program is 70% complete; nearly all removals have been <br />59 finished, and more than half of the 1151 plantings have been completed. In total, <br />60 1269 trees have been added to the community since 2022. <br />61 <br />62 Upcoming work: <br />63 Implement strategies to mitigate the possible loss of Veterans Park. <br />64 Develop strategies for and implement a recreation needs assessment. <br />65 Determine a path forward for the replacement of the Rosebrook Park wading pool <br />66 and playground. <br />67 Identify further opportunities to engage historically underrepresented populations. <br />68 Review of the Parks and Recreation System Master Plan. <br />69 <br />70 One item of business that the Commission would like to put before the Council is their <br />71 recommendation of the name for the new park at 2381 County Road B. Staff solicited name <br />72 recommendations at one of the planning meetings, through the City News, website, and by <br />73 email to those who participated in the park planning process. 43 name suggestions were <br />74 received. The Commission utilized Parks and Recreation Operating Policy #40: Assigning <br />75 Names to City Facilities (attachment 2) to evaluate the options. At its May 7, 2024 meeting, <br />76 the Commission winnowed the list to five finalists.
