Tolstad Addition, as well as during heavy rainfall, flows over
the Miley property onto his preventing the use of his garage
and the water drains into his basement.

MR. GRANT MILEY, 2183 Roselawn Avenue W.: Lack of storm
sewer facilities in the area is doing physical damage to private
property caused by public run-off water and is creating
personal safety hazards to persons residing on Roselawn Avenue
West and those that use the street for bicycling, walking or
driving a vehicle. The run -off water from "the area east of
Rosedale Drive and Roselawn Avenue West is being diverted onto
the University of Minnesota Golf Course in Falcon Heights. This
water is being handled by catch basins and drains paid for entire-
ly by Mrs. Gertrude Hadammek at 1927 Rosedale Drive. (Attached
to the letter was a petition to construct the improvement with
ten signatures.)

The following persons appeared:

MR. OWEN HALLBERG, 2110 s. Rosewood Lane: Indicated that
he was a spokesman for a group of concerned citizens of the
area affected by the project who object to the improvement for
environmental, monetary, aesthetic and sociological reasons.

MR. CLIFFORD WETMORE, 2184 North Rosewood Lane: Said he
doesn't object to storm sewers but does object to this proposal
for environmental, aesthetic, monetary, recreational and
educational reasons because of pond drainage.

FROM THE AUDIENCE: Commented on a study prepared by
John Andrews Architects of Toronto for the University of
Minnesota in connection with long range plans for the st. Paul
Campus of the University as part of an open space belt from
Como Park to Midland Hills Golf Course.

MR. NESTOR KORPI, 3336 43rd Avenue South, Minneapolis - a
member of the Rose Hi) J h~~.i..dm.:e Church which is located in the
improvement : 'l.IH~y recognize that something needs to be done
to alleviate the drainage problems but they don' t feel that }'h~
proposed plan is the right plan. Further, they oppose the
draining of the pond.

MR. ARNETT C. MACE, JR., 2233 So. Rosewood Lane: Opposed
to the improvement. Asked if it Was feasible, necessary and
logical to design a storm sewer for the maximum extreme events
in t~rms of run off and precipitation.
